December 2000 marked a very special time in the JWIC family. It was at that time that B.C. Chapter officially 'came home' to JWIC. Prior to this time, B.C. Chapter was affiliated with JWI in the U.S. The JWI U.S. loss was certainly JWIC's gain!
B.C.Chapter is a very active and thriving chapter. B.C. Chapter serves as a role model to the rest of JWIC in identifying needs in their community, to implementing action plans, to raising funds to support the needs, to acquiring new members on a regular basis.
B.C. Chapter is involved with the Food Bank, initiated Noah's Ark, a project to provide much needed infant items to needy families; initiated the first Connect Card in Canada to provide resources to abused women; initiated and opened an ASTEH facility in Vancouver; initiated and chairs the task force Jewish Women Against Domestic Violence in Vancouver; runs a fabulous Rainbow Luncheon annually; participates in BIngos and Gift Wrapping to raise funds and the list goes on and on.
