Protect Yourself, Stop the Violence Against You, a groundbreaking pamphlet, was originally published in 1987. It has been endorsed by The Ontario and Manitoba Medical Associations. The guide was updated in 2006 and is published in English, French, Russian, Hebrew and Spanish. To date, over 250,000 copies have been distributed free of charge by JWIC to hospitals, shelters, physicians, lawyers, social workers, women’s health centers.

Women trapped in abusive relationships often lack the foresight and are unprepared for a sudden/urgent need to flee. This pamphlet is a practical tool with a clear and concise checklist of what is needed as well as a brief outline of the signs of abuse and what constitutes abuse.
