This is an innovative program designed to teach elementary school children about diversity and differences. Artist produced replicas of famous persons who have made a difference despite their ‘difference’ are used by volunteers in the schools. The dolls represent persons of all races, colours, religions, creeds and social classes.

The program consists of taking the dolls and scripts describing them into elementary schools. Teachers invite JWIC volunteers to present the dolls/stories to groups of children who are studying multiculturalism, famous Canadians or special times such as Black History Month. Whenever the life story is retold, listeners are confronted with two fundamental principles of democracy:

  1. the worth and dignity of every human being
  2. the right of every individual to full and equal opportunity to develop his known and unknown potential
